Weihnachten Box - Geschenk aus der Bäckerei
Category: Mystery Boxes
Item #530
Stylized feldpost packages from wartime bakeries were really common. We prepared some of these and filled with local made sweet pastry. From December 2024 we unified the content so you always know that you will receive our traditional Pressburger Rolls (in Slovak: Bratislavské rožky, in Hungarian Poszonyi Kifli).
First written record of Pressburger Rolls dates back to 1785. At that time, baker, cook and renowned confectioner Wilhelm Scheuermann baked rolls for the first time in his kitchen and offered them to his customers with great curiosity. The pastry shop was called Pressburger Beugel. History does not record whether rolls immediately caught on, but it is certain that several decades later they were being eaten as far away as Vienna and, to make things even easier for the imperial court, rolls were also imported directly to the seat of Austria-Hungary. Pressburger Rolls already acquired a trademark at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries - as the first food product in the territory of present-day Slovakia - and their popularity continued during the First Republic.
These are made either with poppy seed or walnut filling. Random delivery, both are delicious.
Delivered in original 1930 era paper bags. Suitable for WW2 impression. Packed itself in own packaging to ensure long lasting.
Box packaging may vary.
